AIMS

UNIAPAC is an international meeting place for Christian Business Executives which aims:

to promote Christian Social thought within the business world and Society,
work for an Economy serving Mankind, the dignity of the human person and the Common Good.
provide inspiration and support for leaders who are willing to transform their business endeavours into a Noble Vocation.

In carrying out such aims UNIAPAC members commit themselves to:
Formation of themselves, so as to be seen as examples for their contemporaries.
Transformation of their own companies and business environments so their work is seen as a noble vocation and
Contribution to and construction of a fairer and more humane society.

Mission and Actions

UNIAPAC is an ecumenical organization which is an international non-profit organization. Headquaartered in Paris it federates associations all around the world. Its full name is the "International Christian Union of Business Executives".

Inspired by christian Social Thought, its goal is to promote amongst business leaders, the vision and implementation of an economy which serves the human person and the Common Good of humanity at large. Thus UNIAPAC advocates for a free economy based on respect for the dignity of the person and a sense of the Common Good.

Within the Network

UNIAPAC promotes the transformation of companies towards contributing to the construction of a more just and humane society.

In doing this it encouratges personal development and training within companies and it serves as a link between Christian associations of business executives across the world. In the facilitation of exchanges between companies, UNIAPAC membership is recognised worldwide for its distinctive promotion of business as a Noble Vocation.

At the present time UNIAPAC gathers Christian Business Leaders Associations from 40 countries in Europe, Latin America, Africa and Asia. It represents more than 45,000 very active business executives around the world, working in various leading sectors of the world economy.

Worldwide there are more than 100,000 business executives connected to UNIAPAC and thus it creates a global network of more than 3,000,000 people.

History of UNIAPAC

UNIAPAC was "born" in 1931 on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Encyclical "Rerum Novarum". It was founded by the Dutch, Belgian and French Catholic Employers Federations and with observers from Italy, Germany and Czechoslovakia, as 'Conferences Internationales des Associations de patrons Catholiques". Major steps in the evolution of UNIAPAC are as follows:

1946Creation of UNIAPAC

A.H.M. Albregst prepared the final establishment of UNIAPAC as an organisation under the name "Union Internationale des Associations Patronales Catholiques".

1975 First edition of UNIAPAC World Congress

UNIAPAC launched the "Churches Transnational Corporations" Dialogue in Europe. The origin of these Dialogues was the development of a consciousness, on the part of business and the Churches, of the role of business in society.

1991 Rerum Novarum

UNIAPAC commemorated in Rome the centenary of Rerum Novarum" - the first social Encyclical (1891) - and presented to His Holiness John-Paul II, the book The churches facing the enterprise - a Hundred Years of Social Thinking.

1991 UNIAPAC Foundation

Creation of the UNIAPAC Foundation, the founding partner of UNIAPAC International.
